Voters in all Kansas counties vote on retention of Supreme Court justices and Court of Appeals judges. Only voters in shaded districts, where judges are appointed, cast ballots on retention of judges of the district court. Districts not shaded utilize partisan elections, not merit selection, to choose judges of the district court.
